The SCA Barista Skills Professional course is aimed at experienced baristas and coffee professionals with several years of industry experience.

This advanced, three-day (21-hour) course develops expert-level knowledge in espresso science, recipe design, sensory evaluation, and café operations.

Participants refine their technical precision and analytical skills to achieve mastery behind the bar.

Dive into coffee density, variety, cultivar differences, and the science of decaffeination.

2. workspace management
Focus on efficient high-volume drink production and creating new coffee beverages.

3. espresso process
Examine the performance and calibration of different grinder models and technologies.

4. extraction & brewing
Design brew recipes, construct espresso blends, and apply extraction measurement tools and techniques.

5. sensory
Study organic acids, advanced sensory evaluation, and their impact on flavour balance.

6. milk
Explore milk composition, processing, and quality factors including how coffee acidity affects milk texture and taste.

7. water quality
Measure TDS, pH, and total hardness while learning practical filtration and adjustment methods.

8. financial concepts
Apply simple financial principles to improve café efficiency, costing, and profitability.

requirements
Participants must hold the SCA Barista Skills Intermediate qualification before enrolling.

Each participant must also provide an SCA Learner Number (available for free via sca.coffee) at checkout.

The training concludes with a practical exam during the course and a theoretical exam online (available for 21 days after completion).

Successful participants receive a digital SCA certificate via their SCA learner profile
