Dating back to 1927, Mama Tona bought 47 hectares of land on the slopes of the Ilamatepeque Volcano in the western part of El Salvador.  Supported by her son, Santiago Diaz Palacios, they were determined to transform this property into a coffee farm.  More than 90 years and six generations of coffee growers later, the Pacas family continue to work the land of Finca Santa Petrona. 

Federico Pacas Lopez has managed the farm since 2012, it now has 11 lots in total.  As trees on the farm are planted using the Parras system branches are spread horizontally so new shoots must sprout upwards. As a result, the trees have great root systems that thrive in a pleasant microclimate like that of a wild forest
